Nice portraits.
The guy in the fourth pic looks like a character from a movie. :-)

Great series of portraits. I like how you included plenty of the environment in the background, the soft lighting and atmosphere adds to the sense of mysticism.

I remember one time my brother in-law told me a story. they were resting in "kapatagan" - the rest top at the mid of the mountain, then a bearded man with long hair suddenly preached to them and said that He was Jesus Christ. The three of them just ignored the man. Then the man said "di kayo naniniwala? Uulan, aaraw". and it did just after he uttered those words, the clouds darkened and rained heavily for a minute or so then the sun shone intensely. natakot sila so they decided to climb down and never continue their hike. sometimes weird things do happen in that mountain. and we are lucky because most illegal loggers are afraid of desecrating the mountain forfear of bad luck.

I agree! Banahaw is such a mystical place. Did you go down the 200+ steps and cross the river?

I could sure use a healer at times! All we have are doctors here in Columbus - and I think that traditional healers could often do better then the docs! And I bet they would be a great deal cheaper too.

A fine series of these interesting looking individuals. The world has an amazing variety of peoples and lifestyles. Your blog has given us an "eye" on this interesting part of the world.
